I spent much of my Friday painting a house. Not my own mind you but Heather's house. (almost Heather's house, she has an accepted offer anyway) FHA guidelines require there be no loose or chipping paint due to concerns about lead. So why am I doing it? The sellers have been very gracious in following up on inspection issues and requests, and well the buyer could and would, but I can do it faster and better.
I shared the story with a neighbor and she said something like "Must be tough times for a Realtor to paint a house to make the deal work." Times are not tough for this Realtor, and that's not why I was doing the painting. I do things like that all the time, in good times and in bad. It is what makes me different. I have assets, skills, expertise, experience, and a really big truck. If you work with me they are all at your disposal.
So if you see an agent going above and beyond, for no reason at all, or to close the deal, it might not be a sign of the times but a sign of someone you might want to partner with should you need to buy or sell a home.
